Hold'em Poker Hands
The following is a list of texas hold'em poker hand rankings beginning from strongest to weakest:
Royal Flush;
This is the best hand possible for holdem poker hands. Cards showing Ace high, follwed by King, Queen, Jack, and ten of the same suit. The highest suit being Hearts. Rarely seen holdem poker hand but a real buzz when you get one.
Next best is a straight flush.
This is five cards of the same suit in sequence. Similar to a royal flush except it is not Ace high. The lowest straight flush of holdem poker hands is 5, 4, 3, 2, A of the same suit. If there are two straight flushes, the one headed by the highest card wins.
Four of a kind.
This hand loses to a straight flush but beats any other hand. In a game where two hands contain four of a kind, the four higher-ranking cards win.
A full house holdem poker hand.
Two cards of one rank and three cards of an other rank. In a game with two full houses, the hand with the highest ranking three of a kind is the winner. Sometimes referred to a "Full BoaT" or a "boat"
A Flush.
Five cards of the same suit. To determine which flush wins if there are more then one in a hand, then the person with the highest card in their hand wins. If the highest cards are of the same rank, the higher of the next-highest cards determines the winning hand, and so on; so that Clubs A K 4 3 2 wins over Hearts A Q J 10 8, and Spades J 9 8 6 4 will win over Hearts J 9 8 6 3.
Five card straight holdem poker hands.
Five cards of sequential rank regardless of suit. Note that in hold 'em, Aces can be high or low. So Ace high would be Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, and low would be Ace, Two, Three, Four in any suit. Three of a kind.
Three cards of the same rank.In a poker game with two hands each containing three of a kind, the hand with the higher-ranking three of a kind wins.
Two pair.
Two cards of one rank and two cards of another rank, with the fifth card unmatched. As between two hands each containing two pairs, the hand with the highest pair wins. If these pairs are of the same rank, the one with the higher-ranked second pair wins. In a holdem poker hand where these pairs too are of the same rank, the hand containing the highest unmatched card wins.
One pair.
Two cards only of the same rank, with three cards unranked. Of two one-pair poker hands, the one containing the higher pair wins. Two hands containing pairs of the same rank, the highest unmatched card determines the winner; if these are the same, the higher of the second-highest unmatched cards wins and so on.
No matching pair.
This is the lowest of all holdem poker hands and loses to any poker hand having a pair or any higher-ranked combination. In this case the hand containing the highest card wins; if these two cards are the same, the next-highest card wins, and so on, so that A, 8, 7, 4, 3 loses to A, 9, 7, 4, 3 but wins from A, 8, 7, 4, 2. For two identical poker hands, card for card, they are are tied, since the suits have no relative rank in Texas Hold'em Poker Hands.
